Vlog post - Meme &Secret Post

A long time ago, I swore somewhere ( no, not there), that I would never vlog.

But after some deliberation ( and winning a new ipod mmm) I have decided to bite the bullet and vlog!

So when it decides to upload and process (we may be here some time,) here is the vlog incorporating this meme and my secret post club package.

So I hope you like it.

Sorry about the accent - if I knew how to subtitle it I would!!

A big thanks to Whimsical Wife for my secret post club package - I am the envy of the office with my gorgeous hand cream. and I hope that my secret post arrived too!!

In the name of Parenthood

(Just to let you all know that it must be getting quite bad now because I'm dreaming of blogs ideas in my sleep!!!)

In the name of Parenthood:

I have had Car vomit into my mouth and my ear! - I don't do vomit!

I have had so many people look at my nether regions (during labour!) that I may as well give you all a free day pass!

I have endured having to finish the girls supper on all occasions (especially when Neb gets upset that they didn't finish it - but don't tell him thats our little secret!)

I have cut fingers and sworn at those blinkin' fiddly wirey things on kids toy packaging (!)

I have eaten bits of biscuit that have been half eaten when passed to me on teaplate for teddy bears picnic - well you can't not!

I have watched endless hours of kids tv (all in the interest of scientifical research honestly! - both Bel and I are upset at Tracy Beaker finishing!!)

I have read "Let's go on a Bear Hunt " until I now know all the words off by heart .

I have to watch all the new animation films out - favourite so far for me Happy Feet - I so love penguins!

I have a possible bladder control problem - when I laugh I know for sure that a small bit of wee comes out!

I have to go to the zoo on a regular basis or we all get withdrawal symptoms - off to Twycross over Easter!

As you can see this list could be never ending but I know that only some of them are not taxing and I do enjoy most- apart from possible the vomit!

In the name of Parenthood I will strive to make every day of their life a happy time, full of love and laughter. (Occasionally there will be days when this won't happen - when I'm tired, hungover or ill!!)

Is there anything in the name of Parenthood that you do?

I am not an Alpha Mummy and I don't care.

My children are both up and watching Basil Brush while sitting in their pj's on the sofa in the living room whose floor is still a tangled mess of toys, jigsaw parts and crumbs.
When they get dressed into (most probaly) yesterdays clothes (which may or may not be food stained) I may not brush their hair until later on in the day (if I remember) and at 10 a snack of something unhealthy(its Saturday) will be shared.
I will at several points during the day (!!) lose my temper with both of them and in the end decide to sit on the naughty step myself as that is where it is safer! If I could sit there in a cocoon with a glass of wine and the laptop I would be happier!
Both my girls are happy, clean( well unless they've just eaten chocolate and I've forgotten to wash faces!), fed and loved. We play together, learn together and laugh together. So why are we terrorised by the Alpha Mummies - a proper mummy as talked about today in the Guardian.

Am I not a proper mummy, do I need to be perfect to be a proper mummy?

Do I need to have well dressed, smart kids whose uniform looks prestigne every day. In the article Sali Hughes talks about fishing a dirty uniform out of the laundry basket and wiping it with a damp cloth.  Have we not all done this at one point or another.

I remember when Bel was born going to my post natal class and having the leader ask us if anything untoward had happened to the babies yet. I looked up and without thinking said "Bel has rolled off our bed". Many mummies in the room recoiled with shock and horror and not one other mum came over and said me too.

Should we strive to be Alpha Mummies whose children look like they've come from a telly advert or do you mind if my children are possibly a bit dirty round the edges.

PS If you are an Alpha Mummy then please don't dismiss me I will strive to get better, I promise (fingers crossed behind back!)

Service will resume after a Peppa Pig break

Hello all - I have been very busy this week with work and assignments for the course I'm doing (on Supporting Students!) so I've been a bit blog free.
I have been busy reading your blogs and trying to comment and have starred many for a weekly round up which hopefully will be tomorrow (fingers crossed!)
Currently this evening, I have managed to make Car scream and have a tantrum whilst MIL on phone and now are watching PP (see below) whilst Neb is doing washing up and then he will cook supper! (I seem to have him well trained by now!)

See you soon...

This little piggy went to market...

I recently found the blog Keep Calm and Eat Cake and after playing with Hamish for a bit I thought I'd particiapte in her food post.

Food for thought came about after her recent blogpost on overripe bananans and the rules are:
You could share a favourite recipe, take a photo, write a food related story, make something crafty or even record a vlog of you demonstrating how to cook something. Just take the word and do with it what you will. Then come back here and post the link to your post.

Anyway the word for this week is BACON and I absolutley love bacon so here is one of my favourite recipes using bacon.

Bacon & Mushroom Pasta

You will need:

400g pasta - I normally use penne but any will do.
250g pack chestnut mushrooms -wiped clean if you can be bothered, I tend to put them in as they are.
8 rashers bacon - the recipes asks for streaky but bacon is bacon is bacon!
4tbsp pesto - again the recipe asks for fresh but the jar stuff is fine!
200ml carton creme fraiche

Cook pasta as directed.
While pasta is cooking cut bacon and mushrooms into bite size pieces.
Reserve a few drops of pasta water (put mug into pan and take out some water!) and then drain pasta.
Fry bacon and mushrooms in pasta pan for few mins- until golden. Keep the heat high so the mushrooms cook in the bacon fat and don't sweat!
Tip the pasta and water back into pan with bacon and mushrooms. Take off heat and mix in pesto and creme fraiche.
Serve.
This serves 4 but I can eat a 2 person portion myself!

Enjoy.

If your happy and you know it here's a meme!

I' m still trying to troll through my memes but as this has been bestowed on me by two lovely people (Nickie@Typecast) and Beth@It's My Good Life) I thought I'd do it next.

The rules of this meme are 1)Name 10 things that make you happy and then 2) tag some people.

So here they are 10 things that make me happy - in no particular order!

  1. My new ipod - which I won in case you hadn't heard - which I am slowly getting my music on and know that I've worked out how to upload my videos I may even post a video!
  2. Chocolate - always makes me smile, especially drinking home made hot chocolate and dunking yummy chocolate biscuits into it.
  3. My girls laughing - Car has a very catchy laugh which I dare you not to join in with!
  4. Walking in the spring, summer - I love walking but not hills ( really I normally end up carrying Car up them). I love seeing the countryside and finding bugs and worms!
  5. Cooking for the girls and Neb - especially when the girls eat it
  6. Going out with my friends makes me happy ( or drunk take your pick!)
  7. Watching cheesy films - you know Grease 1 and 2, Little shop of horrors, HSM1 & 2 (I haven't seen 3!). I think its the singalong that I like - I need to watch Mamma Mia next!
  8. Summer days drinking cider in a beer garden wtih my family.
  9. My new found happiness is my blogging, I love it, I love writing them (even if I can't spell all the time!) and I love being nosy finding out about your lives too.
  10. My husband makes me happy when we are not experiencing difficulties! In fact he makes me smile when he dances with the girls (dad dancing extraordinaire!) and when he makes up silly songs!
Now I have to tag some of you - it says 10 somewhere but its late now and I can't think that well so here I bestow it on:

Who's the Mummy ( if i give you a meme can I be in the tots 100 next month , please?)

My baby adventure - for the happy smile that I'm sure hasn't left her face

and that is it - if anyone else wants it then please take it - I need to go to bed!

    Meme's galore - I hear, I see. I feel!

As many of us (apparently) I seem to have a meme mountain to get through at the moment but I will start with the "I hear, I see, I feel" meme which has been passed on to me by Very Bored in Catalunya . I think she's passed this on to me due to the long running feud petty row we have about Glee. Basically I think we're gonna have to put Glee down to the "Marmite" syndrome.. you either love it or you hate it! (and we are still friends!)

    I hear

Earlier - it was I like to move it, move it and other dancing songs e.g Jedward (AAGH!) and Black Betty (my choice!)
Now as Car has gone to bed, Bel is watching cartoons on Boomerang in her pyjamas before I get her reading books out. I can also hear next doors music (thanks to their tendency on playing bad music loud). and my fingers tapping a beat on the keyboard as I type.

    I see

Earlier - my two darling girls dancing around on the pushed toys to one side floor, shaking their booties like pros!
Now - Not the living room floor - covered in toys yet again (I did tidy last night), its also covered in nappies (unused!) as Car is going through a phase on putting nappies on every doll, teddy, cat!
Bits of darkness through the now closed blinds (which need dusting!)
A cat curled up on the chair against the radiator.

    I feel

Tired.. full day in work been and gone I will probaly be asleep soon.
Hungry - even though I have had some supper with the girls.
Hot - we turned the heating off yesterday and then it got too cold so we turned it back on and now I'm sat here in the warm living room in a cardigan boiling!

    I smell

The chicken carcus boiling slowly making yummy stock!
Toast (and I don't know why - somebody said that I have a ghost following me with that smell but who knows!)

Now as with all good memes I need to pass this on, so I bestow this meme on:

    Crystal Jigsaw
    Insomniac Mummy
    Bringing up Charlie

Hope you are all doing fine and I'm off to do some more meme writing!!

(PS is anyone else havign a huge problem with the return key when editing their blogger blog! its doing my head in now!!)

    Muuum, can we go there...?

Can you tell its nearly Easter holidays? I can, do you want to know how - well so far this morning while watching kids tv we've seen adverts for Disneyland Paris, Legoland and Thomasland.

So this morning all I've said over and over is no thats too expensive!

    1) Firstly let's see how much it would be to go to Disneyland:

Well for a 2 night/ 3 day stay over Easter it would cost a whopping £1724.00 to stay in the 4 star disneyland hotel for the four of us. This price doesn't include flights or any extras f.e you can have breakfast with your favourite disney character for £16/adult and £12/child!
So sorry girls, not going there - mum would like to go to the one in Florida so daddy can visit his family and you can see Great Aunt jean!

    2) Legoland Windsor

Now as we live in the back of beyond it would probaly take forever for us to get here but if we decide to go down to London to see relatives again this year we could pop in.

That is until I saw the price ....£38/adult £28/child so for us that would be £104/ family for the day. Luckily Car would get in free!!!

So again, sorry girls, legoland is out of the question- we can try and make our own at home with lego, duplo and megablocks if you like?

    3) Thomasland (Drayton Manor Park)

I would love to take the girls here as Drayton Manor is near to the inlaws so would be a great day out. That is until I saw the price!!!

£28/adult and £24/child (Car again free) but a grand total of £80 for the day.

Again girls, no , Thomas is out!

So, I think this Easter we will be mainly walking in the countryside, enjoying our scenery and doing free things!!! (weather permitting). Here are some pics of us last year:

Things I have learnt this week - Part 2

Not much happened here this week apart from the wrestling, and my secret post club parcel has arrived ( I will post about this shortly!)

As this was so well received last week I thought I'd write another one for you all.
I've read lots of new blogs this week thanks in part to the biggest ever (honest!)BMB carnival over at Baby Baby  and also due to the latest Writing Workshop at Sleep is the Weak. My reader is now bursting at the seams and will surely implode soon.

Anyway, getting down to it...here is what I've learnt this week:

The most talked about thing to hit the mummy  blog world has landed - the Cybermummy conference in July  (1410 hits on Google). Unfortunately as an anonymous (well to my husband anyway) blogger much as I would love to meet up with all you guys I will not be going. I feel a bit like the poor kid at school due to this but please because I'm not going but honestly I don't smell!

From Twitter I learnt that the Woolworths pic and mix which I thought had disappeared has made a reapparance on the web but at quite an expense - I made myself up a pretend bag to see the price!

I learnt that I have made an appearance on Google Streetview - which you'll only find if you know where I'm from and what I do in my lunchbreaks!

    From my reader :
    • I've learnt that I am not the only bad mother in existance -  see here
    • what happens when you decide that writing a blog is too much work
    • that even though I love Glee (as do others and here too) it seems that this is not shared by all- shame on you!
    • it turns out that even though we are all trying to recycle, the nhs still want to dole out shit
    • some pictures say everything and this is like our house, apart from the tidy hallway!
    • how things change after having kids - going out anyone
I've also been tagged with an award this week:

Many thanks to Nickie@Typecast for this award and I will be sharing the love soon.

Also thanks to Gigi for tagging me in the what's in your bag meme (even though for some reasons I thought it was a shoes one) and this too I will share with you all after I clean out the crap .

Anyway thats all for now folks - I better go back and pretend to do some more work!!!

    Wrestling a crocodile!

Yes, I feel like Crocodile Dundee tonight!

One of the things that should be on the position details for being a mother would be crocodile wrestling.

Car had to go to doctor's today (because of the sticky eyes) and we've come back with eye drops to put in her eye up to 3/4 times a day.

Which would be dead simple if she was 6 or 60 but she's 2! Its bad enough that I wipe her eyes first with cotton wool dipped in cooled down boiled water but then to try and get one drop gently in to her eye ( yes that's what it says on the bottle - gently drop a droplet into each eye!) that is another thing.

Neb has gone to his Welsh class so it was up to me to get them in before bed.
I thought it would be easy to get them in upstairs in bathroom prior to brushing her teeth.

Yeah right, haha I'm so funny.
I begged, I pleaded, I tried mummy calm voice then some mummy angry voice but no way in the world would she open her eyes. I then leant her back on my legs and tried to prise eyes open without hurting her (trying to be as gentle  as possible.
It didn't work, I took her into our bedroom, I lay her on our bed, she rolled over and shouted NO MUMMY, crying and screaming as I tried to get her eyes open. When hell froze over Eventually she opened her eyes a tiny bit and I managed to get them in!

We have several days of this ahead of us so if you know of a zookeeper job anywhere then let me know because after this I will definately be up for an easier challenge, like feeding the lions perhaps or perhaps I could join the circus and do this:

    Bye for now BNM

PS  I hope you like the new look, the green was getting a tad too green for me and others!!

    Happy St Patrick's Day

Now you'd think as I'm Welsh and after the rugby on Saturday (don't ask the score needless to say we didn't win !) I wouldn't be celebrating St Patrick's Day. I mean he's the patron saint of Ireland is he not.

But did you know he was a WELSHMAN.

Actually this is where things get complicated, apparently he was thought to have been born in Strathclyde (Scotland) which was a Welsh speaking area at the time!!!

Legends state that he rid Ireland of snakes.

St Patrick's day is celebrated not just in Ireland but in many other countries where many irish families have settled. For instance in Chicago, USA they dye the river green as part of St Patrick's day celebration:

Anyway I hope this overly green page today hasn't put anyone off!! That'll be you then.

To everyone else I hope you have a good St Patrick's day ( or first day back in work/ birthday), have a guinness or two and enjoy the celebrations.

    Sticky but not that ill

    Hello all.

This is just a quick post before I go and get dressed. (Yes I am blogging bare!! but am under duvet in living room so there!)

Car is not very well - she has sticky eyes of which the cause is unknown - its either snot (!!) or conjuctivitis(!!!!), Neb is going to take her to the doctor later on. But even though she is ill she is currently talking on the brick phone ( I think its like the Batphone!) and declaring to Bel that she needs to shut up! I have already this morning told her off for hitting Bel and then was told that we were counting Mummy.

    This is how we count:

    Me: One
    Car: Two
    Me: Three
    Car: Three
    Me: Four
    Car: Four NO MUMMMY BISCUITS!
Me: No it's four, five, six, seven etc.
    Car:NO MUMMY BISCUITS NOW!!

She has given up on this now and is staring at the tv instead.

Anyway I'm off to get dressed and do morning things before going to a workshop for the course I am taking. If you follow me on twitter you will see that I'm a bit behind on my homework but have now done it!!

    See you all later

Things I have learnt this week 1

    Hi everyone

Well after a week of many post my creative juices have suffered a bashing and I've no idea what to post so I am going to let you in on the things I've learnt and read this week.

Firstly I learnt that we don't mind lying to our children after this post and the 16 comments received on it.
I also learnt that we are all bossy assertive people (here).

From reading the many blogs (130!) in my reader I have learnt many weird, funny and interesting things:

    • A cat needing feminine wash over with Organic Motherhood with Cool Whip ( a tame topic for a change!)
    • Many bloggers have been vlogging this week, thanks to the competition held by Cafe Bebe and Heather from Notes from Lapland. The top two (out of 20 - obviously we are all not mad enough to vlog!) can be voted for now but my favourite was this lovely striptease here ( I love this and was laughing my pants off!!)
    •  That my favourite biscuit has made a blog world post, here
    • That I am not the only erupter round here, there is another one about to go too
    • Why I'm grateful (at the moment) that I have two girls, not boys
    • That swear words are not included in some dictionaries but luckily for you they are in mine
    • some people have no time to fart
    • sex and children don't mix
My children have also learnt some important lessons this week too:

Car has learnt that pouring white pepper onto her duplo box and then eating it taste awful and will hopefully never try it again!
Bel has learnt that reading can be fun and is currently on chapter 6 of her birthday book (which I can heartily recommened)

Anyway I'm off for now - may see you sometime over the weekend but if not I hope you all have a good Mother's day and that you are treated and spoilt.

    How many is too many?

During my lunchhour I was listening to the radio on my new i pod (I won it yeah much to Neb's jealousy) and I was shocked to hear about the 54 year old who is currently pregnant with her 9th and 10th twin babies.
Now, as you know I only have two girls and after much discussion I think we will not be having any more (even if I do feel a bit guilty as Neb has no heir to his name) unless we win the lottery, buy a house ,have some more room etc etc.
And I know that some of you out there in blogland are mum to many and fair play to you all . In my mind you deserve a medal and a great big hug but would you go as far as this woman.

But would you go as far as having IVF not once but twice, once 2 years ago and once 6 months ago. She already had 7 healthy children. She went through the menopause and went out to the Czech republic for the treatment. Is 7 not enough children already?

She has confessed herself that having babies seems to be an addiction for her "I love the smell of them" (sorry, poo and sick - ok then!) and "having young children gives her a sense of purpose in life".

Do any of you out there crave for a larger family or are you addicted to having babies?

    Bossy Boots

I have been know to be bossy.
Not in a horrible way honestly but sometimes I charge in with all guns blazing and make people do things.

Recently on twitter, I told Josie from Sleep is the Weak to "Go to bed". It seems that she took my advice and did. Does that make me bossy?

I do tell Neb, Bel and Car to do things in a slightly bossy way. Maybe thats why they now ignore me.
Is it a good thing to be bossy?

Would it be better if I had kinky boots instead!

(By the way the film clip above is from a fantastic film which I saw recently on television!)

    Liar, Liar, Pants on fire!!

    I don't lie to my children, honestly I don't ... well maybe just a little bit...or more...AAGH

According to a recent survey by a leading female insurance company (see here), parents (yes , you) lie to their children 100 times a year.

This got me thinking (not really a good idea on a Monday) what small lies do I tell my children.

    1. There's the white lie about tomato soup being invisible Bob the builder soup to get Bel to eat it when she was younger.
    2. The even smaller lie that I use to get Car to go to sleep... but upsy daisy's sleeping listen, can you hear her snoring (I think that may be classed as blackmail too!oops!)
    3. Of course fairies, ghosts, Santa and your imaginary friend (Roger) are real Bel.
    4. If you cross the road without looking a car will come and squish you flat as a pancake (its worked so far!!)
    5. Don't put your fingers in your mouth because they will shrink (this is a white lie that has been passed from my father who used to say it when I sucked my thumb!)
As I can't seem to think of anymore I'd like you to share some of the truth that is bent in your house because obviously we as parents don't lie we only distort the truth!

    The weekend starts here.....

    Hello everyone
I hope you all enjoyed the guest post from yesterday and went over to read mine and didn't get upset at my profanities (get me, posh words)

Yesterday evening I went out with one of my closest friends (Wi ) but prior to that Neb, the girls and I had a fantastic boogie.
Yes, last night after work I did the washing up (I lead an exciting life, honestly) but to make it a bit more interesting I decided to wash up whilst dancing and singing (badly) to the ipod. We (Car and I) boogied and bum wiggled to the following music selection.

Car then decided to princess dance to the next song

Neb then came in to make burgers with the girls and we moved on to more songs

This proved a fantastic song to dance to and Car spent a time saying Tricky, which is funnier than singing Ice Ice baby!

The girls and Neb then had burgers for supper and I went out with Wi to have dinner.

We went to an Irish pub in our local town where in the eating area we were treated like apes VIP's as we were roped in! Dinner was great and relaxing and we had a candlelit dinner due to being in love the power tripping. As we are obviously such late night people we stayed up and out until very late (10pm).

On our way home, we sang Happy Birthday to Wa who is currently somewhere in New Zealand enjoying a well deserved break.

Here's to a great weekend which involves some walking, shopping, a date with my husband with a takeaway and a film from Sky box office and hopefully some more crazy tunes and dancing.

I'm off now and leave you listening to one of my favourite songs from our ipod

I'm not here at the moment ....Guest Post Day

Hi, I'm not here at the moment as I'm off out tonight so if you'd like to leave a message please wait for the annyoing very long beep.

Well actually I'm here as today is Guest Post Day ( an idea from Little Mummy).

So I am very pleased to introduce (drum roll please) another redheaded celt for you: Mrs W@ Clinically Fed up

Of hugs and knowing and growing away

The conversation with my 4yo went like this... glass of wine in hand... my hand of course!

Paul: "You shouldn't drink that funny juice again"

    Me: "What funny juice?"

Paul: "The funny juice you drank on the World's birthday"

    Me: "Aaah... tequila"

He's right of course, I shouldn't, but me and tequila had already decided to call it quits.
I'm a bit sad, it's been nearly 24 years since we met, but irreconcilable differences and all that.

Not one to let a good thing go my son continued...

Paul: "Funny juice makes you silly"

Enough already child! I wouldn't call stripping off and laying down on a cold tile floor to remind yourself you have a body silly. This is silly....

Tequila took me full circle. When your kids are little you know every little part of them. You notice every nick, blister and bruise. You know where the rough bits are. You are forever looking, touching, mending and holding them. Not forever though. Never forever. You negotiate new physical boundaries with them all the time. They grow long and pointy, all angles and gangly sharpness and soon you find you can no longer scoop them up and squeeze a giggle from them. They wriggle to escape or limply hug back whilst gently pulling away. Then comes the first time you hear the words "Get off me" and you wonder where that came from. Soon the hugs become stolen and private, then awkward. Then you do it just to annoy them because deep down you know they really do want a hug. Of course they do. One day it dawns on you that you have no idea if they are cut or bruised, if there's a rough bit needing cream or a toe rubbing a shoe.

When, 30 odd years later on the World's birthday, you find your child giggling facedown on your bathroom tiles in her knickers "cos I wanna be cold" I can only imagine what goes through a mother's mind, when the little body they grew and held, tended and tickled is laid bare before them in all it's, ahem. glory.

Probably "Woah! You've let yourself go a bit there..."

Hug someone who's not expecting it. Keep your clothes on. Stay away from the tequila.

    I'm going with all three.

Thanks to Little Mummy for organising a great guest blog post day and to Clinically fed up for her post.

    I had a numb bum....and bara brith!

    Hi all

Well things have been quite mundane here in the last couple of days.

Car had her two year developmental check yesterday and it went reasonably well apart from my HV being a bit of an idiot and showing her the pink bookstart bag at the start so all he got from her was "No, Finished, that one" when she was meant to be pointing things out. But you'll be happy to know that she passed (really at 2, come on why do we make her be a performing seal!!) everything and is a healthy growing girl (durr , I'd told him that!!).

Today I started my Supporting Students course that I've enrolled on as some professional development for my job and for the first time in ages I got a very numb bum while sitting there listening to the first part of the lecture!

Anyway by popular demand, (yes that'll be you Working Mum!) here is my mum's bara brith recipe. (For all of you that don't know bara brith is a kind of speckled bread or fruit cake made with cold tea)

Bara Brith Te oer - cold tea Bara brith

    1 cup cold tea

1 cup sugar ( use granulated)

    1 cup mixed fruit

    1 egg

    6oz self raising flour

Bring cold tea, sugar and mixed fruit to the boil for a few minutes and then let it cool.

Mix in flour and egg and then place in loaf tin ( I use one lined with greaseproof paper /baking parchment - whichever one that is the one that doesn't stick)

Cook in oven at 350F/ Gas Mark 4 for 45 minutes (this is an approximate time depending on your oven - my mum wasn't the best on timings)

It will then look a bit like this (not my pic by the way Neb's eaten ours!)
     Slice, butter and serve

    Enjoy.

I'll be back tomorrow but not here - guest post Friday here we come!

    I am me

This post is in response to the Sleep is for the Weak writing workshop. I am for a change on the ball and after Josie using another of my posts for inspiration (are you mad woman?) I thought I'd join in.

    Who am I?

I am Mum, I am Wife
I am Daughter, I am Sister
I am Friend, I am Lover
    I am Barenakedmummy
    I am Me.

I am the one who pays the bills,
    The cook and the cleaner.
I am the one who shouts at you all
    To wake up, get dressed.
    And go.

I am the mother of two lovely girls
    Bel and Car.
I carried you both full term and more.
I love you and give you all I can.

I am the daughter to my father.
    And my mother past.
I am your pride and joy,
    Your little girl.

I am the bigger sister to a younger brother.
I am the one who held you long ago.
Through your tears and your joy.
I am the one who shared childhood fun with you.

I am a caring friend to you who know me.
I will listen and I will share.
I will carry your secrets to my grave.
I will share your tears and give you hugs.
And I will love you all.

    I am a blogger supreme(!)
I am a mad nutty mummy.
I lay everything out for all to see
And make you laugh and giggle at me.

    I am me.
    Redheaded feisty independent woman.
    I feel, I care and I love.
I get scared for future and past
    I am me.

Hope you like the poem - written in head on way in to work today.

    Ice, IceBaby

Yes you read it right. Ice, Ice Baby has turned into the girls favourite song. Yesterday whilst having their supper they started to sing it. First Bel would sing Ice Ice Baby then I'd hear this small voice repeating it.

So after supper I took them both in and asked Bel if this was the version they were singing:

Oh no it wasn't the version that had hit our house was this one:

Aagh I don't know what to say Jedward fever seems to have hit our house.

Although I prefer them singing this to what they normally sing:

    Bye for now

    Do the little things

Today,as you should know is the 1st of March and it is St David's day, the patron saint of Wales.

St David was born in the area where I live and many of his miracles happened around here. It is known that when he once gave a sermon the ground under his feet raised so that the people who had gathered could hear him.

The daffodil (pictured above) is the flower of Wales - known in Welsh as the Ceninhen Pedr. This is probaly due to St David telling the Welsh soldiers to wear a leek on their uniforms - Cenhinhen so they could be differentiated from the Saxons.

Leek is also present in a dish, traditionally served on St David's Day called Cawl. We will not be eating Cawl in our house, as Neb and the girls do not like it. A recipe for Cawl can be found here .

Another tradition on St David's Day is the Eisteddfod. Bel has gone to school today dressed in her Welsh Costume  (similar to the one shown below) to perform in her school Eisteddfod (a festival of music and literature).

St David's motto was "Gwnewch y pethau bach" translated as Do the little things which I know in this frugal times we all do.
So I leave you know with that motto - "Do the little things" today.
