I love fairy tales always have and reading the words Once Upon a Time to my kids always makes me smile
Its so nice to see that fairy tales are still around. Evidence suggests that fairy tales have existed for thousands Many of today's fairy tales have evolved from centuries-old stories that have appeared, with variations, in multiple cultures around the world.
Its odd though isn't it that something that was originally for adults has led to being read to kids at bedtime.
I decided last week to download the Grimm's Fairy Tales book (published in 1922) and was happy to see old favourites that I remember in their original name (before being disneyfied)
Briar Rose - or Sleeping Beauty as children today may now know it as, is one of the best fairy tales ever. I mean who could not wish to be woken from a 100year sleep by a handsome prince,
The other stories in the book had quite scary parts to them and I can understand why they were based more for adults. though One Eyes, Two Eyes and Three Eyes (yes a story) would probaly make Bel laugh.
