Last week, the men lost in the bomber command regiment during the war were honoured with the unveiling of a statue in London's Green Park.

Neb was happy to see this as his grandpa Ron was a flight engineer in the Bomber Command. We both sat and watched together the programme earlier this week about some of the survivors of that righteous regiment.

Neb's grandad (who is still with us) has shown Neb his RAF log book and we all know the family story of how he got shot down and escaped through Belgium, Spain and France to get back home a year later to a wife who thought he was gone, missing in action as the telegram she had received said. But that is all we know and Ron's memory is not as good as that these days, so tonight I set out to find more.

I have managed to find out one small piece but that is it, I'm now stuck. I'm hoping that somewhere out there, one of you clever people will know how to find out more. If you can help, please comment below.

And the detail, the small detail I have found is a detail on  a website dedicated to a list of British and Commonwealth escapees, a detail that gives a little but not that much.

But to the families whose loved ones didn't escape and who didn't come back, I'm glad that at last a memorial has been given to their fight.
