Frugal Half Term Fun - The Local Museum

You all must know what its like - it's a Saturday afternoon, you've just sat down with your cup of coffee and all you get is Mum, can we go, can we go now??Can we go to .....

Well on Saturday, it was the museum. Now, I guess most towns have one - a museum tucked away down a street. Well, we have one too and its in a lovely building which used to me the local coliseum. It's a great place to visit and its free!

Aberystwyth Museum - which used to be Phillips' Coliseum

As you can see its over three floors and there are lots of different exhibitions all showcasing the history of the town and county.

But on Saturday, we didn't go just for a walk round- no we went to take part in an Art Event, which also showed all the drawings by local children (Bel included) from the recent Big Draw event. This year's topic was the Olympics and Bel drew:

Unfortunately she didn't win but two of the prize winners did come from her class. The Art Event was fantastic and involved the girls drawing with both charcoal and black paint. The leader of the event was one of Car's teachers so we all enjoyed the fun.

After the prize giving and tearing the small child away from the black paint we went for a little amble around the museum. It has a lot of interesting facts and displays but when you have said small child moaning it may not be the best place to visit. I love it and would love to see more being made of the old theatre stage that is no longer in use.

Anyway, another fun day out and no money spent.
