Up North

As you all know I was heading up to Manchester on Wednesday and here's a lowdown of what happened

Wednesday -

Bought snacks for train and some train books (3 for £1 so bargain). Before the very warm non airconditied train had reached the 3 train station, my connection was cancelled !

So, I did some rejigging and eventually arrived into Manchester - many more train stations seen than necessary! The final train which had come from Bournemouth is the only one that had air con so I was a sweaty mess when I arrived

My poor best friend was starving so we went to book in and then went for food.

I had been recommended the food place by a group that I am in on Facebook but if you are near a Bundobust then I would recommend you go - its completely vegan but so delicious and even changed my mind on Paneer. Several pints at random pubs in the Northern Quarter of Manchester and I was dropped back to the hotel. Luckily my meeting started at 11.30 so I just popped into bed and watched some tv.

Thursday -

So after a leisurely breakfast, I wandered over to Primark and the 90s is back! Anyone else remember cargo pants - well they're back again with a vengance. I also passed a art installation of lamps which are fun - had a google and they've been there since 2021.

I then wandered through the streets, following my google maps directions - I did manage to find the meeting venue and it may have probably been the long way round  I went especially as my walk back to the station was more direct.Saw some fab sights, past canal street, was going to take a selfie with Turin but there was a crowd of people in front of him, and some of Manchester uni's architecture is stunning.

The meeting went well although some of its attendees had trouble with the trains, including sheep on the track!

Travelling back was less chaotic apart from the no air con again - TfW did however give out water to all

Off to London in 10 days.. and not by train.

  1. It sounds like a great trip, well apart from the sweaty train.
My youngest is obsessed with cargo pants at the moment, I told her when I was her age they were a big thing too. She doesn't believe me so I showed her the girl group All Saints. lol x
